De Brachiosaurus werd minstens 23 meter lang en woog ongeveer 80 ton. Hij had een kleine kop in verhouding tot zijn lichaam, dit was een kenmerk van de groep waartoe hij behoorde: de Sauropoda. De Brachiosaurus had zeer lange voorpoten, doordat de nek ook erg lang was kon hij tot wel 13 meter hoog komen. Hierdoor konden ze naalden van boomtakken afhappen. Met hun tanden konden ze niet kauwen, daardoor werd het voedsel vermaald door stenen in de maag. De poten eindigden in korte, dikke tenen. Onder de botten van elke voet zat in kussentje om de schok van het lichaam op te vangen. De poten stonden recht onder zijn lichaam, waardoor hij zijn lichaam genoeg steun kon geven.
