Nou dat is goed gelukt onder leiding van wijnmaker Willi Stürz heeft Cantina Tramin Kellerei een grote stap gemaakt. Er is veel geïnvesteerd in de winery en wijngaarden om alles naar een nog hoger niveau te tillen. Dat vertaald zich in de vele prijzen die Tramin in ontvangst heeft mogen nemen.

De oude Chardonnay wijngaard van Cantina Tramin Kellerei

In het zuiden van Tirol liggen de oude wijngaarden van Tramin. Om precies te zijn in Alto Adige waar het klimaat perfect is. Zo schijnt de zon vaak lang en gelijkmatig en de frisse wind en dalende nachttemperatuur zorgt voor voldoende verkoeling aan de trossen. Zo is het groeiseizoen van de Chardonnay lang en in totaal werken drie honderd kleine wijnboeren aan deze top wijn. Alles wordt uit de Chardonnay gehaald om de witte wijn te laten schitteren.

De oogst van de Tramin Chardonnay

De ranken staan in kalkhoudende klei en grind gronden waardoor ze veel kracht uit de bodem halen. Als ze rijp zijn worden ze met de hand geoogst en in kleine kratjes naar Cantina Tramin Kellerei gebracht. Dit geschied altijd in de vroege ochtend om de Chardonnay druiven te beschermen tegen oxidatie. Na de persing rijpt deze Chardonnay nog een aantal maanden in eikenhouten vaten. Waardoor hij voller en romiger wordt.

Hoe smaakt de Tramin Chardonnay?

Deze Tramin Chardonnay is wel een stevige jonge! De beste druiven zijn afkomstig uit de wijngaarden van Ora, Tramin en Egna. De kleur is prachtig, vol geel met een gouden gloed. Doordat de druiven op grote hoogte worden verbouwd krijgt deze Chardonnay toch veel frisheid mee. In de geur is deze Tramin Chardonnay delicaat met veel fruitige aroma's. In de smaak tonen van ananas, peer, citrus, vanille en boter.

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
