This OG acoustic guitar is a reminder that Burlington, Vermont's Iris Guitar Company has a knack for creating instruments that offer a one-of-a-kind charm and vintage-inspired specs. Their flagship model, the OG, has gained notoriety as a workhorse acoustic that offers player-grade reliability and performance features that combine to create a guitar worth talking about.
The OG features a resonant Sitka spruce top, combined with a gorgeous mahogany back and sides, a tonewood combination found commonly in Custom Shop Martins. All finished in a burst, the back of this guitar showcases two bookmatched halves, with a knot present on both sides, symmetrically. Inside, Adirondack spruce, scalloped bracing works in unison with its surroundings to help this guitar project with clarity. A firestripe pickguard acts as the focal point of the front of the guitar's body, and Ivoroid binding follows its contours.
The neck of this guitar is attached with a Mortise and Tenon joint, and is characterized by a 25” scale length and a welcoming C-shape profile. Indian Rosewood is meticulously selected for the fingerboard and bridge, with its dark color and tight grain pattern offering some symmetry to the front of the instrument, matching the dark appearance of the headstock, which is topped with Golden Age tuning machines, as well as the company's logo.
Open pore nitrocellulose lacquer is sprayed as the finish of this beautiful instrument, allowing the guitar to breathe, and offering a graceful aging of this instrument over time. This guitar comes with a hard-shell case.
